Back to Store
It is recommended to pre-wash all cloth items prior to usage. We do suggest that you do not wash new hemp with any fleece products for the oils can cause repelling.
Avoid
using pure soap as it can leave a fatty, waxy build-up
on the cotton fibers which make the diapers less
absorbent. Never use bleach as
it weakens the fabric and is not safe for baby's skin.
It is best to use a mild detergent such as Sensi-Clean. Keep in mind that
LESS DETERGENT IS BETTER THAN MORE (about 1/2 the
recommended amount).
You should wash your diapers and inserts
it in HOT/COLD cycle.
The
simple answer is no.
Fabric softeners (liquid or dryer
sheets) leave a coating on the fibers in the diaper
which will decrease their absorbency. It is also not
healthy for baby's tender skin.
Yes, the diapers can be put in the dryer on regular cycle.
When putting the diapers in the dryer, it is always good to ensure
velcro closures have remained closed in order that the diapers not stick to each other or collect lint.
A recommended alternative is to line dry your diapers as
the sun will help preserve the quality of your diapers
as well as eliminating stains.
There are a few simple guidelines that will help maintain the durability and effectiveness of your diapers and inserts.
- Solid waste should always be rinsed off the diaper into a toilet prior to storage.
- Diapers that contain only urine should be rinsed in cold water and put it in the diaper pail until wash day.
- Use a dry diaper pale or
container with an air tight lid to store your soiled
diapers and inserts.
If you find your cloth diapers aren't coming out of the washer smelling fresh, you can replace your detergent with 1/4 cup of Calgon Water Softner.
If your diapers are in need of a deep cleaning, replace your detergent with a small amount of Oxyclean.
Use Calgon and Oxyclean only as needed.
Upon multiple washes, cloth diapers can acquire a build-up of detergent causing them to become less absorbent. A simple way to rid your diapers of the build-up is by "stripping" them. Wash your diapers in 1/4 cup of Calgon Water Softener. Calgon can be used as needed but DO NOT put in every wash. Try using less detergent if you find the build-up to be frequent.
